Breastfeeding Lobby Day – Virginia General Assembly – January 18, 2016
Join VA Alliance for Breastfeeding Laws and fellow breastfeeding supporters for a day of breastfeeding advocacy at the Virginia General Assembly on January 18, 2016. (See the Facebook event page here.)
There is power in numbers, so we will go in groups to meet face-to-face with legislators and/or their staff. This is a great opportunity to thank our representatives who voted unanimously in support of last year’s Right to Breastfeed in Public, and to ask them to vote in favor of this year’s breastfeeding-related bills.
This session, two breastfeeding-related bills will be introduced. One increases workplace anti-discrimination protections for pregnant and lactating women, and the other increases workplace pumping protections.
Children and babies are welcomed to attend, and the schedule for the day is flexible to accommodate the varied needs of individuals and families. Come for the morning or the afternoon, for as long or short a time as you like.*
**While January 18 is the Martin Luther King Holiday, the General Assembly is in session!** This is a popular lobby day for many groups, and it tends to be less crowded in the afternoon, in case that is a concern for anyone.

*simply your presence will increase our visibility, so you do not need to come prepared to speak
